Our group of traveling seniors played here March 27, 2017 at noon en route Williamsburg for a golf getaway: paid $28 with Tee Time Golf Pass. Super choice!

The layout is superb, taking full advantage of the hills and ridgelines. Very pretty course, even with browned-out Bermuda. Great vistas from tees on almost every hole. Also, most holes are stand-alone, with no visuals from preceding or following holes. A few houses visible, but not at all intrusive.

Not a walkable course by anyone, as there are some serious distances between holes, and almost every transition requires a drive down the hill, crossing a bridge, then up the next hill. Cart paths are concrete, too. And those bridges at the bottom are things of craftmanship, not just beam and plank.

Tee boxes are large and flat, fairways are sculpted with naturalistic swales and contours, and no artificial moguls or railroad ties. Bunkers are plentiful, some quite deep. Greens are large, with some contour, but not punitive or tricked up.

Conditions were typical for the time of year, greens had been punched and sanded, and were so-so. Fairways were a little thin in a few spots but playable. Bunkers were in pretty good shape overall.

Clubhouse is in a double-wide but is nicely appointed, as the course seems to be transitioning to more permanent facilities.

The few staff we encountered were friendly and welcoming.

We very much liked the course and highly recommend!

The grounds crew has forgotten how to maintain bunkers. There is some sort of fibrous matting under the sand that sticks out, or worse, is just under a thin layer of sand so you can't see it. This matting will HURT your wrists. It's a shame. Tees, fairways, greens are all in great shape, the layout is decent, the price is usually good. The bunkers would be bad for a cheap muni

Typical Rees Jones - Straightforward, generous landing areas, everything in front of you. Greens were fast and fair, some breaks hard to read for a first time player. Pleasant and helpful staff, not crowded. Played 18 in about 3 1/2 hours. Very scenic, no houses on course. Hilly, especially in approaches to greens. All in all, a pleasant and enjoyable experience.

Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Ranks with the best in this price level, Bargain priced based on quality and competitive area pricing

Despite no shortish par-4's requiring a long iron or fairway/hybrid off tee, this course is such a pleasure! Great staff, superb practice range, beautiful rolling topography and 8/10's conditions this Fall make Viniterra the best course in Richmond except for Kinloch & VCC. Viniterra from 7,400 yards is as tough as Royal New Kent and as scenic as Stonehouse.

As they seek to grow their rounds to 20,000 the staff make you feel a member. In fact, golf membership here for non-homeowners runs less than local rival Traditional Clubs' offering. Go play this course and book tee times through viniterragolf (dot )c0m

Unbelievable layout. Peaceful with no houses along the course, each hole is secluded from the other. Course conditions were outstanding. A must play in the Williamsburg area.
